A group of volunteers from Great Yarmouth were fortunate enough to be nominated to attend the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Garden Party at Sandringham House.

I, David Wilkinson, the chairman of the Visually Impaired User Group, with my guest was Mrs. Wendy George who is a volunteer for the Norfolk and Norwich association for the Blind. Also John Watt, who is an advisor for DIAL the Disability Information Advice Line in Great Yarmouth, along with his wife, Karin, also a volunteer at DIAL. Jo Howes is the manager coordinator at DIAL and her husband Keith, were the lucky attendees of this 2012 party.

We had a truly wonderful time mingling amongst 4000 Great and Good people from both Norfolk and Suffolk. The sun shone on us most of the time. The catering was superb with the food being prepared by students from Great Yarmouth, Norwich and Kings Lynne Colleges.

We were very happy to be just metres away from the Queen and Prince Andrew. The Band of the Dragoon Guards played and enhanced the atmosphere

It was great to see so many local people and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the good people that nominated us. It is a day we will always remember.
